Making Her Parents Proud

With a little encouragement from Daddy, Bradyn's latest obsession is with Supergirl. Once again, thank God for Craigslist. You see, the easily accessible costumes from Zellers and Superstore weren't good enough - no - the dress couldn't have a red metallic skirt with gold accents. It had to be red and yellow - just like the picture. When we couldn't find the boots, Kevin came through again, by painting a pair of yellow ones he found. (he was the one that found the perfect boots last year for her Pocahontas costume.) So far, Bradyn only has one costume for Halloween this year... we'll see how long that lasts.

For all of you superhero fans (that means you Darkside), Kevin wanted to point out the following:
George Reeves played Superman on television in the 1950's.
Christopher Reeve played Superman in the movies from 1978-1987.
Now, Bradyn Reeves stars as Supergirl in "her first great adventure".

On Friday night Bradyn and I were playing dress up. For Cinderella's rag dress, Bradyn chose my old Laura Ingalls dress that mom made years ago (it's OK - I wasn't offended). After a lot of bargaining, Bradyn finally agreed to put on the bonnet as well, and let me take some pictures. Too bad she'll never want to be what I choose for Halloween.

We're so thankful our little girl indulges us once in a while.

Artwork

As I mentioned in a posting that I wrote when Bradyn first started daycare, I love when Bradyn has artwork to bring home from school. I love to see how her little mind works by the way it comes out in her drawings. I'm going to be very sad the day I have to start purging all the paper, but at least I will have my electronic versions (I scan everything into the computer and have put some of them on my digital frame at work). When I scan the pictures in, I ensure that I ask Bradyn what each picture is, and label it as such. (If I don't ask her that day, I find that the explanation changes because she forgets.) Here are some of my 'recent' favourites.

From October 2009 - the Moody family.

May 2010 - a mermaid

June 2010 - "Me and Diana" (her best friend)

July 2010 - Her underwater interpretation

September 2010 - a card she made for Diana, wishing her good luck at kingergarten.

September 2010 - "Me & Daddy" (notice the evolution of facial details - forehead lines)

September 2010 - "Our house & Sandy's house" (Sandy lives in the townhouse next to us)

This is the best...
September 2010 - "My iPod" (she doesn't have her own, but has asked for one for Christmas because it frustrates her that Kevin and I don't have the same songs on ours, and she can't listen to all songs in both cars)

September 2010 - "Me walking outside when I was a baby"
September 2010 - "Mommy holding me when I was a baby"
I love it.
