2009 Walk For MS

This morning, Kevin's Heroes participated in the Tri Cities Walk for MS. I am thrilled to report that we raised $5,205.55, which brings our 5-year total $24,188.55! The weather was beautiful (no rain - I'm still shocked) and the Tri Cities total this year was $78,176.59. What a fantastic day!

The Goat Lover

On Saturday, we finally made it to Maplewood Farm so Bradyn could check out all the animals. It's a small attraction in North Vancouver that I've been meaning to get to for about a year now (yes, pathetic, I know). Remember my post from our Pumpkin Patch trip back in October?

Well folks, the goat obsession still exists. There were turkeys, horses, cows, rabbits, chickens, peacocks and all kinds of things to look at, but it was the goats she wanted to hang out with.

Happy Easter

Easter morning started at 7:25, when I awoke to find Bradyn standing beside our bed, staring at me. (It still scares the crap out of me - I much prefer when I hear the footsteps coming down the hall, followed by her hitting the baby gate before she pushes our door open.) Although she appeared to be wide awake, it seemed she had forgotten all about the Easter Bunny. I took advantage of that, and allowed myself to get up and showered, because we had a big day ahead.

When we finally got her all pumped up about the bunny and went downstairs, Brady was excited by all the packages and eggs lying around the house.

It was so cute watching her open each egg and discover the contents. She did a running commentary, with lots of enthusiam.... "It's a chick", "It's a barrette", "It's another chick"...

Her new favourite stuffy, Lumpy. (Hey, she named it, not us.)

After all the excitement at our house, we headed into Vancouver for an Easter Egg hunt at the home of some friends from Kevin's work.

The pouring rain didn't squash the enthusiam of our little Bradybug.

The back yard was jam-packed full of eggs for the kids. (This picture was probably taken half way through... I'm telling you, there were eggs EVERYWHERE.)

Each child was allowed to collect 8 small, 8 medium and 6 large eggs. She could have stood in one place and had it all done in 1 minute, but Bradyn walked all around the yard, looking for the perfect eggs.

Once she had her eggs, it was time to find out what treasures were inside.

'Mom, I can't do it. You do it.'

Just like at home, each egg was accompanied by a commentary.

Bradyn's First Live Wrestling Show

We all knew it would happen eventually. It was just a matter of when. On Saturday night, Bradyn saw her first live wrestling event. To be honest, it was for a great cause, and was entertaining, even though we only stayed for about an hour. Wrestling With Hunger, featuring ECCW Pro Wrestlers, was a three-day event to raise money and food for the Share Family and Community Services Society. At the same time, they were hoping to set a Guinness record for longest wrestling show ever.

When we arrived at the recreation centre, all we had to do was follow the sound of bodies being dropped on the mat to know where the gymnasium was. Bradyn was very excited to point us in the right direction. Of course, we had to be seated in the front row.


Bradyn seem amused by the chanting, and couldn't help herself from joining in.

Her new favourite wrestler is MR2. The second time he came out to the ring, he stopped to give her High Fives, and told me she was a sweetheart. After dedicating some blows to the head of his opponent in the corner to 'My Little Sweetheart', he came by to see her after the match.

This is why Mommy came... In the hopes of seeing Scotty (mmmm)Mac. Trying to snap pictures of a fine physique, directly to your left when the action's to the right, without being obvious - not an easy task.

As I taught Bradyn to say, 'He's dreamy'. (And has some damn fine abs too!)

The event ended up raising 3,021 pounds of food and set the wrestling record at 72 hours 1 minute 50 seconds. An event we can be proud to have as one of Bradyn's firsts.
