A Star Is Born

On Sunday April 9th, Bradyn and I, along with family and friends, participated in the Super Cities Walk for MS. Actually, I did the walking and Bradyn just came along for the ride. She was a superstar this year and had her picture in the local newspapers twice! The first time, along with Mommy & Daddy, she was on page 18 of the Coquitlam Now paper to help promote the event. The second time she was on page 3 of the Tri City News, along with Mommy, Aunt Sherri & cousin Kiera, showing us on the day of the walk. Our team, Kevin's Heroes, raised $5,300 this year, which worked out to 10% of the money raised for the Tri Cities walk! We'll definitely be out there again next year to help raise even more money for MS research.

Too Much Sleep

I know that new mothers everywhere are going to hate me for this complaint, but our daughter is sleeping through the night. My complaint? It scares me! I put Bradyn down at 10:05 last night, fully expecting that I'd have to feed her around 3 or so. At 7:30 this morning, I bolted awake and ran to make sure she was still breathing. She's been sleeping on average about 6 1/2 or 7 hours a night this past week but last night was 9 1/2 and I thought for sure there was something wrong. I know I should be thrilled because she's obviously getting the food she needs from me and she must be a very happy and content baby. However, like every new Mom, I worry about her. Despite getting at least 6 hours of sound sleep, I'm still exhausted by the end of the day. Sherri said that when you are breastfeeding, it's like running a 1/2 (or was it a full?) marathon every day. Too bad I'm not seeing the aerobic benefits on my body from that... still 18 pounds to go. I guess that's not bad when you consider that I gained 50 (yes Sherri, 50 - not 30 like you). My goal is to get back to the gym next week and hopefully kick that breast-feeding metabolism into high gear.

Just Like Sisters

Having Sherri, Jason & Kiera with us has been a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Jason had to leave on Sunday, but Sherri & Kiera are still here for 3 more sleeps. Although Bradyn and Kiera are so little, they are still interacting with each other and are so cute together. Kiera has developed a high-pitched squeal which we figure must be her way of saying Bradyn's name & getting her attention. In response, Bradyn will coo, gurgle and smile back at her. Kiera can also be flailing around but when she goes to touch Brady, she is very gentle, as if she knows she has to be careful because Brady is smaller than her. To see them holding hands is priceless. Sherri and I are determined that despite the 3000 miles and the mountain range between them, our girls are going to be as close as sisters rather than cousins. We have to... they only have each other.
