Happy Halloween
I know that all of you have been waiting with bated breath to see what Miss Bradyn decided to go as for Halloween this year, so wait no more. This year there was no discussion - in keeping with last year's theme, Bradyn decided quite some time ago that she was going to be another Superhero - Batgirl. As with her Supergirl costume, Bradyn got instant attitude when she put on her costume and even more when I asked her to pose for me.
We started our Halloween celebrations a week early at a friend's Halloween party. When Kevin heard that Alex's mom (the hostess) was going to be Supergirl, the peer pressure began. I wanted to be a pirate but that was unacceptable to Kevin and Bradyn - I needed to follow the theme that Bradyn, Lani and Alex were setting. But not any Superhero was good enough. I had to be a DC Comic Superhero - Marvel was blasphemy. Since Supergirl was taken, the hunt was on. I passed on the Robin costume - too tight and too short. Catwoman was too slinky. There was only one obvious choice..... But first, here are best buddies, Bradyn & Alex a.k.a. Batgirl and Batman (being supervised by Krystyna the Fairy).
Ta-da! The Supermom team was a no-brainer and a big hit.
For a special treat, the kids coated giant marshmallows in chocolate and added some sprinkles. I love how it looks like black lipstick.
On Halloween day, the festivities began at noon when the children at Bradyn's school changed into their costumes for the annual Halloween parade. Kevin had the day off so he was planning to attend (at my insistence) but I was not. However, I admit it - I caved to Bradyn's pouting in the morning and bailed on work at noon, dragging Claudia with me (a co-worker whose daughter is also at Panorama). The costumes were fantastic and we had so much fun watching the kids parade from class to class. We have some great pictures of Bradyn and her classmates but, since I don't know those families, I won't post them here. I will, however, show you this one..... the school principal!
Trick-or-treating just wouldn't be the same without her partner in crime, Diana.
