I was thinking about the blog last week, but it wasn't until today that I realized how long it's been since I posted anything. The last month just flew by in the blink of an eye. Kevin's schedule has been really crazy and, by the time I get Bradyn into bed at night, I flop on the couch and veg. They say that if you want something to get done, you should give it to a busy mom but I'm telling you, this mom isn't getting much of anything done lately, and that includes taking pictures. However, I did take these videos 2 weeks ago, and thought you'd enjoy them.
Bradyn and I were home alone on October 1st, thinking of Nana & Poppa celebrating their 45th anniversary. Bradyn was 'playing' the piano, and I told her how Poppa used to love listening to me play. I suggested that it would be a very special present if she could learn to play, and perform something for him when he's here at Christmas. Very keen to learn, Bradyn helped me dig out Uncle Dallas' Beginner Piano Books from the bench, and away we went. I admit that I got a bit frustrated at times, but I kept thinking of my Aunty Joyce (my first piano teacher) and we ended up having lots of fun.
As per usual, when I actually got the camera out, Bradyn stopped playing and just sat in her rocker (from Great Granny and Great Grandpa). However, I think she secretly wanted to show off her talents...
I think Aunty Joyce would be proud of this hand positioning. I love that Bradyn insisted on having the music in front of her and kept looking at it as if she were reading it.
Bradyn suddenly requested that I take a video of her singing a song she had made up... I had no idea what was coming.
Of course, I have saved the best for last. Here is Bradyn singing a French song she learned in kindergarten. Does it sound familiar?
Bradyn has asked for a few subsequent lessons, so we'll see where we're at in December. Who knows... maybe we'll play a duet for Poppa.
