She Lost Her First Tooth!!!!
For months we have been listening to Bradyn complain about not having lost a tooth yet ("Even Annie has lost a tooth and she's only 5!"). She has had her little ceramic tooth from Nana on the beside table, just waiting for an occupant. When she went to see the dentist in June, the hygenist said her two bottom front teeth were just ever so slightly loose, and assured Bradyn that she would lose a tooth by Christmas. (I've had my fingers crossed that it would actually happen because if it didn't, B would be furious)
As you know from my last post, Bradyn's bottom tooth is (or should I say, was) wiggly. Tonight after her bath, Bradyn was playing with her tooth, grossing me out.
It goes forwards.....
..... and backwards. (this made me totally squeemish)
Literally 5 minutes after taking the above pictures, Bradyn was in my room, shouting "Mom - my tooth came out!". I couldn't believe it! I knew it was moving around, but I had no idea it was that loose! Mommy didn't do so well looking at the blood pooling where the tooth had been, so I flitted around the house, trying to remember what to do to make the blood stop. Then, I fell into my comfortable role of Mamaratzzi.
It's so little!
What a big-girl smile!
Finally, the ceramic tooth has a visitor.
We all know that I'm an emotional nut about things, so you will not be surprised to hear that I'm waffling between happiness and sadness as I write this post. I am so excited that Bradyn has experienced another first and that I was here with her when it happened. (I was so afraid that it would come out next week when I'm in Toronto for a business trip.) On the other hand, my baby girl's smile has been changed forever and she is officially going to have an 'adult' tooth. I know I couldn't deny it before, but I really can't now.... she is growing up. I love this little girl with every fibre of my being, and I think that this milestone, even more than starting kindergarten, is the most bitter-sweet.

Congratulations Bradyn on loosing your first tooth. How exciting, now you have something for your tooth dish. Mom I think you need help. If this minor thing is giving you so much grief. Wait until she goes off to University or College or even heaven forbid when she gets married. You will cope believe me.
