Catching Up

Kevin kindly pointed out to me that it has been a month since my last blog posting. How did that happen? Probably the same way Miss Kiera will be 7 in less than 3 weeks and Robee just turned 5. Time flies by in the blink of an eye.

We've had a busy few months, so I thought I'd
just post a whole bunch of random photos to catch you up on our adventures from June to the end of July (less the new car of course - that post HAD to be done). Maybe after this I'll actually have time to switch over to the new Blogger layout and figure out how to use it before they do it for me and I can't do another post because I don't know how to use it!

In early June, I flew to Toronto for my company's 40th anniversary event. Since I was going anyway, I took an extra day so that I could drive to London to see my family. Here is beautiful Kiera, proudly showing off her early birthday present from Aunt B. When Robee heard that I had the Angry Birds game on my iPod Touch, he was very excited to get his hands on it. Sherri & Jason don't have iPhones or iPod Touches, so where this little genius learned to swipe through and play the game so well, I have no idea, but I was absolutley in awe of how Robee used the iPod with such ease.

While I was away, Kevin took Bradyn to her last gymnastics class for the session. Another certificate and ribbon to add to her collection. Yeah Bug!

Poor Bradyn has been having some tummy troubles for quite some time, but we were finally referred to a wonderful specialist and got some things figured out. The doctor's office is called Kidscare, and they have themed exam rooms so the kids can play and take their minds off why they're there. The first 2 times Bradyn visited, she was in the Winnie The Pooh room. On our third visit, Bradyn requested the Snow White room. I don't recall actually seeing Snow White in there, but she sure had a blast playing with the Seven Dwarfs.

We had a bit of a heat wave back in June, and Bradyn insisted on wearing her 'sexy' halter tops as much as possible. (Believe me, that's her word, not mine.) I love this picture... she looks so cute and innocent with the sun-kissed cheeks.

As you already know, the day after our new Mazda arrived, Kevin, Bradyn and I headed down to Washington state for a family holiday. First on our list was the Woodland Park Zoo. It's amazing! That place in Aldergrove that we call a zoo is not even comparable.

After the zoo, we headed to the EMP Museum to check out the Lure of Horror exhibit. Although Kevin had visited it on our last trip, Bradyn was too afraid of the music in the entrance to venture inside to see the shadow wall and other cool props. She has been talking about it since our trip in November and has been so disappointed in herself for being too scared. (personally, I was scared and really didn't think a kid should be in there, but what do I know?) This time our little Bug was super-brave and had a great time looking at everything.

Kevin and Bradyn both had a blast in the Scream Booth. It's too bad B was more concerned with seeing herself in the mirror (shocker!) than just screaming her head off in 'fear'.

Pretending she was in a science fiction movie.

Bradyn looks more like she's posing in a 70's disco scene than a galaxy far, far away.

The Children's Museum in Everett was another big hit - even better than the one in Seattle, I thought.

After the Children's Museum, we headed back into Seattle to see the King Tut Exhibit. A tad bit expensive, but definitely worth it.

One weekend, a client of Kevin's invited Bradyn and I to attend the Make-Up Artist Tradeshow being held at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. Bradyn was over the moon at the opportunity to be painted by a real make-up artist. Although she took a while to warm up when we got there (there were a lot of strange looking creatures walking around), she was totaly psyched once she finally decided she was ready. Here is Bradyn before being made up by Steven - beautiful and very excited. While she was being painted, Bradyn was a huge hit in the Studio F/X booth. Lots of people came by to watch and asked if it was OK to take her picture because she was 'so cute'. I was just so proud of how she sat statue-still the whole time.

The inspiration for Braydn's face - her Monster High doll, Laguna Blue.

Bradyn was obsessed with watching a beautiful girl start out with no makeup, and slowly get transformed into a doll with her stuffing and stitches coming out.

Bradyn was also in awe over the horns on this young lady.

Laura, (Program Manager, Makeup Design for Film & Television) from the Vancouver Film School, took the time to talk with Bradyn and explain all about make-up and transforming 'normal' people into monsters. She walked us over to one of the booths so Bradyn could meet the man being made up as "Rat Boy". Laura's goal was to show Bradyn that underneath all the makeup were normal people, and that there was nothing to be afraid of.

I'd say Laura did a pretty good job because Bradyn is now convinced that she wants to be a make-up artist when she grows up. When we got home that day, she pulled out her face paints and painted some flowers on my cheek.

Not sure what the 'prayer hands' are all about, but Kevin took this sweet photo of Bradyn, showing off her Princess Leia hairdo.

Hmmm... maybe she's praying we'll stop taking pictures of her? HA! Fat chance little girl.
