Grade 1

Or should I say La Première Année? Either way you say it, Bradyn had her first day of Grade 1 on Tuesday - all 20 minutes of it! I cannot believe that our little baby is 6 1/2 and no longer a Kindybopper. Remember when she was born?

She looks so different now, and I don't just mean the (fake, fashion) glasses or the (stick-on) earrings.
Take a very close look at this smile and commit it to memory, because it will soon change forever. Bradyn's bottom, front tooth on the left side is pretty wiggly these days and she is over the moon about the prospect of losing her first tooth.

For Day 2 of Grade 1, Kevin took Bradyn to ensure that she found her new, temporary, classroom. For the first week of school, all of the Grade 1 French students were grouped together, while they determined class assignments. Don't even get me started on this... the whole school functioned this way for the first week and frankly, I think it's ridiculous.

Bradyn has recently discovered my old recorder and, while she can't play it very well, she keeps trying.

Bradyn, the Pied Piper.

I don't know what it is about this photo, but I love it. She looks so sweet and happy.

Sears pose, with attitude.

Bradyn's friends have apparently been calling her 'Turtle' this week (but with much love of course) because of her new, grey backpack. Before you reprimand me for giving the poor kid such a big backpack, know that it weighs nothing. The reason it looks so big is because her lunchbag is so wide. Bradyn constantly complained last year that her lunchbag was too small and that she couldn't fit all the containers back in after she ate. With her new one she can, but it takes up a tad bit more room in her backpack. No worries, I've got plenty more school years to get this down to a science.

Checking out the classroom on their way in.

Now that week one is over, we know that Bradyn's teacher for this year is Mme Taschereau. We also know that there is a little boy named Brayden in her class (and 2 Alexanders in the other class - brilliant logic on that assignment), so her teacher has been calling her Bradeeeeen, much to Bradyn's dismay. Yeah! Second week of school and I'm already going to have to chat with the teacher.... gonna be a fun year for sure.

:-)
