Grade Two
In my mind, Tuesday September 3rd wasn't really the first day of school. The kids went back to their previous year's classroom for a whole 30 minutes, to get a piece of paper that said come back tomorrow and meet in Teacher X's classroom with all of the other Grade 2 French students. The weather was crappy and while Bradyn looked adorable in her new flippy haircut and purple dress, she was NOT going to let me take pictures.
Wednesday was the day that Bradyn jumped out of bed and was super-excited to put on the new outfit that she had picked out the week before when we went shopping. During that week, the following conversation transpired:
Bradyn - "Mom, we need to go to Old Navy".
Me - "Oh? Why's that?"
Bradyn - "Because they have the best back-to-school clothes"
(Um, me thinks someone has been watching too many commercials.)
Needless to say, off we went to Old Navy that weekend where Bradyn was very particular about what she would and would not try on. And when she did try something on, she spend a LOT of time posing in front of the mirror, checking herself out from every angle. In the end, she was very happy with her selections.
Anyway, back to Wednesday....
As we were ready to head out the door for her first 'real' day of school, Bradyn grabbed her fancy new roller backpack (that she has wanted since the middle of Grade One) and headed to the front yard so I could take her 'official' First Day of School pictures.
Is she not adorable? She LOVES this scarf and her mannerisms age at least 10 years every time she puts it on.
Too cute. (the flippy hairdo wasn't cooperating on Wednesday, but it's still a great cut)
Does she not look like a flight attendant?
I kept teasing Bradyn about the head-tilt because it was like she physically could not keep her head straight when I took a picture. She just kept posing.
I love this smile. She's just so happy.
1 - the school did not finalize class assignments until today. On Wednesday, Thursday & Friday Bradyn bounced back and forth between the two Grade 2 French teachers while they tried to sort out who was going to end up where.
2 - the poor kid had an emergency dental appointment today so she didn't go to school. No, no more teeth knocked out - a nasty absess behind her left eye tooth. (The poor kid was up crying at 3:00 am. Really? Has she not had enough medical issues to deal with this year??)
Tomorrow morning, Bradyn and I will head to Panorama to find out who her teacher is and then promptly ask her to please give Bradyn her antibiotics after lunch every day for the next week. She's gonna love us.
Despite the rough start, I'm excited about Grade Two and am looking forward to the upcoming year. Let's hope Bradyn feels the same way.
